Africa faces catastrophic effects from climate change despite accounting for less than 4% of global carbon emissions, and the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic and the recent global energy crises resulted in severe economic implications for many African nations.

In light of Nigeria’s teeming intelligent young minds and exceptional youth talents, it has now become imperative to encourage young, brilliant minds in STEM to join the ongoing science and technological efforts and collaborations to accelerate the advancement of green technologies, reduce the negative impacts of climate change, and improve life quality in communities.

The “NextGen GreenTech Demo” is an excellent avenue for our brightest young minds to birth and develop powerful ideas and innovations towards achieving our collective goals of building a sustainable and prosperous Africa.

The “NextGen GreenTech Demo” is FREE to enter, and the winners will get the following grand prizes.

• 1st Prize = ₦250k + Internship Recommendation.
• 2nd Prize = ₦150k + Internship Recommendation.
• 3rd Prize = ₦100k + Internship Recommendation.
• Other Participants = Incentives + Certificates.

Breakdown: The top three Participants will receive grand cash rewards, and the top five will get internship recommendations from Arnergy. All the qualified participants will get certificates of excellence, incentives, and branded souvenirs.

How Does the “NextGen GreenTech Demo” Work?

• It’s a FREE competition of green technologies and sustainable development ideas for intelligent young Nigerians scheduled for Sat, 2nd Dec 2023.

• Application is open and FREE to young Nigerians who can be physically available to showcase his/her solutions at the “NextGen GreenTech Demo” competition in Ilupeju Lagos on Sat, 2nd Dec 2023.

• Applicants must ace the online screening assessment and qualify from the statement of purpose (SOP) evaluation stage to participate in the “NextGen GreenTech Demo” competition.

• The online screening assessment opens on Fri, 27th Oct 2023, and closes on Fri, 10th Nov 2023 (unless a later date is announced).

• Successful applicants from the online screening assessment will submit a 150-word statement of purpose (SOP) on their proposed green and sustainable solution ideas.

• The judges will review and rank the submitted SOPs, and the top ten (10) applicants will qualify for the “NextGen GreenTech Demo” competition.

• The ten (10) qualified participants will develop their SOPs into competitive real-life projects and present them to the judges at the “NextGen GreenTech Demo” event.

• NO physical designs and construction are required for the competition projects. All participants will present and demo their solutions on-screen for the judges' assessments.

• The judges will rank each presented solution for impact, innovativeness, technical accuracy, viability, use cases, performance, and market appeal to determine the winners.
